Members of the Calgary Police Service are preparing for a white supremacist demonstration expected to take place in our city.
The CPS is hoping to prevent an incident like the one that happened in 2009′ when white supremacist demonstrators and anti-racism activists clashed and officers were forced to make several arrests after things became violent.
Acting Staff Sergeant Bill Dodd says anyone who witnesses or is a victim of violence should report the crime to police.
“We will follow up with any incidents that occur over the weekend whether they be hate crimes, crimes that are hate motivated or hate incidents. We will monitor those. They will be investigated by our hate crimes unit if that is warranted” says Dodd.
Extra officers have been scheduled to work on Saturday.
At this point its unclear just how many people will be showing up to either rally.
