Stampede labour unrest looming

The outriders are not happy about rule changes that will reduce their ranks.

In an effort to improve safety on the track, the Stampede wants to cut the number of outriders attached to the various wagons from four to two.

Outriders have enlisted the help of a group called Preserve the West.

A spokesman for that group, Bing Runquist, tells The Calgary Sun more details about the letter they have fired off to the Stampede and the possible boycott will be released Thursday morning.

The Stampede Board has yet to make an official comment on the controversy.
