Time to raise a pint; it’s St. Patrick’s Day!
Those who are Irish, or just pretending for the day, have the chance to celebrate Irish heritage and culture.
Irish Cultural Society President Deirdre Halferty says St. Patrick’s isn’t the most important day of the year; it’s the only day that matters!
Just about any bar in Calgary will be feeling the Irish spirit, and you can too.
When you hit an Irish pub, try shouting Erin go braugh! It means Ireland forever.
Someone will most likely shout back Slainte (pronounced “slawn-cha”), and means Cheers.
If you want to stay home to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Monda Rosenberg with the Chatelaine Test Kitchen says there’s nothing like a comforting, traditional Irish stew complete with marbled meat, onions, carrots, and a touch of beer in it.
Don’t forget to finish it off with a nice hot cup of whiskey-laced Irish coffee!
