Airplane shot down over Benghazi

An airplane was shot down Saturday morning in eastern Libya outside the rebel-held city of Benghazi.

The plane was spotted going down in flames after the area came under shelling.

The regime of longtime dictator Moammar Gadhafi claimed Friday that it had declared a ceasefire.

But, rebels accuse Gadhafi of lying, saying artillery shells continued to rain down long after he announced the ceasefire.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is taking part in talks, this weekend, with leaders of the European Union, Arab League and African Union about the situation in Libya.
