Hostage escapes, Bicknell captured

Police are crediting an elderly hostage with helping them to capture escaped killer William Bicknell.
Bicknell had been holding the woman in her home in the northwestern Alberta town of Sexsmith for several hours, when she managed to escape and alert police.
The 6’5” and nearly 500-pound convicted murderer, who had been on the run for several days, was later captured after a brief chase and shootout with Mounties.
He’s now in hospital in Edmonton.
One member of the Grande Prairie RCMP Detachment suffered minor injuries during the exchange of gunfire.
