If construction doesn’t begin this spring, according to Calgary’s mayor, there will be no airport tunnel.
Mayor Naheed Nenshi says time is running out to complete negotiations with the airport authority.
“We do have a drop-dead date. We must have construction commence on this underpass this spring in this construction season. If that doesn’t happen I don’t see how we can do the project,” says Nenshi.
He says they have six to seven weeks to begin the $295 million tunnel.
Nenshi says the airport authority is discussing some crucial details on the project and their board is set to meet on March 29th.
“I can tell you that negotiations have been proceeding quite strongly,” says Nenshi.
