Escaped convict facing string of new charges

New charges have been laid against the convicted murderer who escaped from the Drumheller Correctional Institution earlier this month.
Following an alleged kidnapping in Vegreville, Alta. on March 14th, 52-year-old William Bicknell now faces charges of kidnapping with a firearm, unlawful confinement, pointing a firearm and break and enter of a dwelling house with intent.
Bicknell held a 72-year-old man hostage in his house for almost 10 hours.
Bicknell was arrested on March 19th near Sexsmith, just northeast of Grande Prairie, following a stand off with RCMP.
His Vegreville court date is set for March 28th.
