Kyle Shewfelt hosts inaugural gymnastics event

Canada’s only Olympic gold medallist in gymnastics is hosting a weekend festival showcasing all levels of the sport.
Five-hundred athletes are taking part in the Kyle Shewfelt Gymnastics Festival at the University of Calgary, which includes members of the Chinese, American and Canadian National teams.
Shewfelt tells 660News that holding the event here in Calgary is truly special to him. “This city has been so supportive of my sporting career, ” he says.
“I wanted to give back. That’s what I want to do now that I’ve finished competing as an athlete. I really want to make an impact and create a legacy. I think Calgary is the best place for me to build that,” adds Shewfelt.
Proceeds from the event will support the Right to Play organization.
