Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff has made it clear saying he won’t form a coalition with the NDP or Bloc Quebecois.
He said “we will be asking Canadians to choose a Prime Minister that shows scant respect for our institutions and a Liberal team that believes that the first thing you expect from a government, is respect for democratic principle.
Ignatieff says the choice is between spending billions of dollars on jets and prisons or spending it on family care, secure pensions and education.
He promises his party will restore fiscal balance and boost spending on social programs without raising taxes on Canadian families.
NDP Leader Jack Layton, who will be in Edmonton Saturday says the party is best positioned to defeat the Harper government.
Layton says Harper’s government made everyday life more expensive for Canadians, by supporting the Harmonized Sales Tax in Ontario and British Columbia.
He says Harper ignored the problems retired people are having in making ends meet, and instead presided over a string of scandals.
