Back up power system fails at YYC

Investigators want to know why the back up power system at Calgary International Airport failed on Saturday night.

The lights went off on the runway shortly before 8pm due to an Enmax cable problem, however, since the back up system was not working properly, all take offs and landings were stopped for about an hour.

CTV reports about 20 planes were affected by the closure.

The Airport Authority is now looking into why the back up system didn’t work.
