Rick Mercer encouraging students to vote

One of Canada’s most well known comedians is adding his name to the list of those encouraging eligible student voters to get out and mark a ballot on May 2nd.

Rick Mercer and the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations have launched a viral campaign hoping to drive young voters to polling stations across the country.

The political satirist tells 660News politicians ignore youth issues, like tuition hikes, because they don’t believe young people will vote anyway,

“When the political parties say they want young people to vote it’s just lip-service. None of them have a mechanism in place to target the youth vote, everyone just counts on them (youth) to stay home.”
