UBC study finds good deeds inspire others

Good news stories spur good deeds.

That’s according to new research out of the University of British Columbia.

Professor Karl Aquino says his study shows that people with strong morals are inspired to do good when they read about other people doing good in the news.

Not just any act of goodwill qualifies though. The study finds it must be an act of sacrifice.

Aquino says if people read about more uncommon acts of goodwill, the media would be in the position to motivate a significant group of people.

Calgarians 660News surveyed Wednesday morning seem to agree that it’s human nature to be inspired by the good deeds of others, although they don’t always follow through with action.
