Major road work to choke Deerfoot commute for six months

Get ready for six frustrating months on northbound Deerfoot Trail.
The province has announced it’s replacing two aging bridge decks on the city’s main thoroughfare, right in the middle of the busiest part of the road.
The Calf Robe Bridge and Ogden Road flyover are both getting work done and the delays are expected to start in late April.
Alberta Transportation is trying to lessen the impact of the construction delays by staggering the work.
Spokesperson Trent Bancarz is also quick to stress that these delays will affect northbound and not southbound traffic.
“We’re going to start on the Calf Robe first and the contractor will have until July 20th to be off of that one and move on to the Ogden Road one,” he says. “There will be at least two lanes open at all times.”
The road work and the delays that ensue will last for most of the rest of this year though, with guesses that crews won’t wrap up until mid-October.
