Propane fire in Lake Louise

A huge propane fire gave residents in Lake Louise a scare Thursday morning.

Fire crews reported flames shooting six feet into the air coming from the propane tank at mountaineer lodge when they arrived on scene around 11:30 a.m.  

The nearby road was shut down and a large housing complex and gas station were put on alert that they might have to clear out.

At 3:00 p.m. the fire was put out with no injuries or evacuations.

RCMP think snow and ice from the roof came crashing down and ruptured a propane line causing it to ignite.
