The opening of the controversial peace bridge has been delayed once again.
The $25 million pedestrian bridge over the Bow River, which was set to open this summer, has been pushed back after an inspection showed some of the welds were not up to standards.
The City of Calgary says an independent company inspected the work done in Spain and found some welds were not in conformance, so further inspections have been ordered.
In a late Friday afternoon press release the city says it’s now unknown exactly when the foot bridge will open.
The 130-metre single span bridge extends from the north to south side of the Bow River just west of Prince’s Island Park. It was originally supposed to open last fall, but has been plagued by construction delays.
