Relief: winter storm warning lifted

With Environment Canada ending a winter storm warning at 4:21 Sunday morning, it’s relief at last for snowbound Calgarians.
According to Environment Canada Meteorologist Heather Green, it appears the storm dumped as much as 30 centimetres of snow on the city after moving in late Friday. Green tells the Calgary Herald, after all the official measurements are in, this weekend’s bout with spring snow could end up being the biggest dump of the white stuff during a 24 hour period, this winter.
The major arteries in the city are in good shape, as City Roads had about 100 plows working non-stop, Saturday, and planned to use salt to combat icy conditions.
Getting out of your neighbourhood could be a problem though.
The Alberta Motor Association says it received about a thousand calls in southwestern Alberta, Saturday, and had waits of up to seven hours.
The good news is the forecast, Sunday, is calling for some sun and a high of three degrees, meaning Mother Nature and some shovelling might get your vehicle moving before a tow truck does.
