Oil industry raises concerns over province’s conservation plan

Oil industry representatives are worried that recently announced conservation plans could put some companies out of business.
The Alberta government announced Tuesday it plans to set aside two million hectares of land near some oilsands operations as a conservation area.
Dave Pryce with the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers tells The Calgary Herald many companies who have bought leases in the proposed area could lose the opportunities they originally invested for.
He also says companies which have invested heavily in the area without being able to predict the province’s move, could have to shut down.
