Canadian Federation of Students react to Conservative platform

Prime Minister Stephen Harper revealed the Conservative platform on Friday and one group was not very happy with it.
The Canadian Federation of Students say there is almost nothing offered to students and their families.
The Conservatives have offered two measures for students: a small expansion of loans for part timers and an exemption for students working while receiving Canada student loans.
David Molenhuis chair of the CFS tells 660News more needs to be done for part time students.
“More and more students are studying at a part time basis because it’s so hard to raise enough cash over the course of the summer to be able to afford the upfront costs of a post secondary education.”
He adds with tuition fees on the rise, they were looking for big thinking, like the Conservatives did back in 2007 when they offered massive increases for students.
The Liberals have proposed a one thousand dollar grant to middle and high income households and $1500 to low income households per year for up to four years, for any student with a registered RESP.
the NDP has yet to release their education platform.
