Suspicious device found at southwest school

A janitor making his rounds Monday morning found a suspicious device at a school in the city’s southwest.
Duty Insp. Rob Williams tells 660News, the janitor found the device in a back stairwell attached to the school in the 5,000 block of 26th Ave around 11:30 a.m.
“He noticed what appeared to be a pipe with caps on the end of it,” he says. “Rightfully so he contacted police. We attended, felt that the device definitely was suspicious and called in our tactical unit.”
The tactical unit used a robot to make sure the pipe was safe. They are now testing it to see if it was actually a bomb.
The school was not in session Monday, and no one had to be evacuated from the building.
The police arson unit is looking into the incident.
