Ousted doctor wants public inquiry

A thoracic surgeon who says he was pushed out of his job in Alberta because he spoke out against the system wants a public inquiry.

Dr. Ciaran McNamee is from the U.S. and now practices at Harvard University.

In a letter to Liberal Leader David Swann, the ousted doctor says he’s willing to testify if he’s provided with legal protection to talk about issues he has with the Alberta health system.

Right now, his severance agreement stops him from discussing those issues publicly.

Swann read the letter before the legislature on Monday.
