Police in Mexico have arrested a Calgary man, wanted in a northeast murder that happened last year.
34-year-old Pablo Rodrigo Russell was picked up by authorities in Tijuana, Mexico yesterday who soon found out he’s wanted in Canada on a first-degree murder warrant as well as possessing child pornography.
The murder victim was 57-year-old Serafino Virgilio, Russell’s roomate at the time.
CPS Spokesman Kevin Brookwell says Russell was arrested after not being able to provide the proper travel documents.
The victim’s body was found in a vehicle along Falsmere Way N.E. in Janary of 2010, but police believe he was murdered in a home a few blocks away and his body then put into the SUV.
Russell remains in custody while awaiting a hearing to be deported to Calgary to face the murder charge.
