Problems continue along Northbound Crowchild Trail

It will be a slow drive home down northbound Crowchild trail on Monday.

A water main break Sunday afternoon has lead to 2 lanes being closed on that road.

The areas affected include a portion of Crowchild between 17th  and 33rd Avenues.

So far its believed a 70 year old 16 inch pipe is the culprit.

David Atkinson with water services says accessing the pipe is part of the challenge

He says it’s still unknown just how long the closure will remain in affect.

It’s believed the drastic change in temperatures caused a lot of expansion.

There are approximately 400 water main pipes throughout the city every year.
