Campaign attacks fail to drag down Tory support

An exclusive Maclean’s Magazine/660News poll shows support for Stephen Harper’s Tories remains unchanged.
Despite two weeks of election campaign attacks on everything ranging from ethics to contempt of Parliament, the Conservative party is still tops with decided voters.
The Tories have the backing of 39 per cent of voters, followed by the Liberals at 28 per cent, the New Democrats at 17 per cent.
The numbers are pretty much in line with the latest Harris Decima poll.
Greg Lyle, the managing director with Innovative Research, tells 660News, while the various campaign controversies have struck a note with voters, the impact has not translated into many people changing their minds as to who they are going to vote for.
Lyle says with this being the fourth federal vote in the last seven years, it appears many Canadians already know the political players and decided a long time ago as to who would get their ‘X’ at the ballot box.
As for the final days of the campaign, Lyle expects the Tories will focus on possible swing ridings, the Liberals will try and push fear buttons, while the New Democrats will attack the Liberals.
Nationally, the Green party has the support of 6 per cent of decided voters.
Undecided voters are pegged at 12 per cent.
