Crowchild expected to fully reopen Friday

Don’t expect Crowchild Trail to be back to normal until Friday.

One northbound lane remains shut between 26th and 33rd Avenues as crews repair a broken water main.

Workers have excavated the pavement over the break and are now trying to repair the damaged pipe.

Crews expect to complete the work Thursday and will reopen the third lane on Friday.

Meantime, the other two northbound lanes are open as usual.

However, the city is recommending some alternative routes motorists can take to avoid the traffic, like Sarcee Trail, Macleod Trail and Elbow Drive.

City crews are adjusting signal timing to prevent large delays.

The water main burst Sunday, sending several feet of water flooding onto the major artery.
