As Canadian federal politicians head into the final week of campaigning, the three main party leaders are doing what they can to build and consolidate support.
The Conservatives and Liberals are both out with new attack ads aimed at NDP Leader Jack Layton.
Despite the attacks, the NDP polls indicate they are the party surging in overall support, especially in Quebec.
Monday will offer the last chance for voters to take advantage of advance polls.
An Angus-Reid poll for the Toronto Star shows voters have become cynical and distrustful of what they have been hearing in this campaign.
The survey found 78 per cent of voters believed that politicians are less honest today, while 62 per cent of respondents believe democracy is in crisis.
52 per cent said none of the political parties had satisfactory positions on issues important to voters.
