Average Albertan forking over more for new car

Albertans pay almost $3,000 more for a new car than most Canadians do.
A new study from Statistics Canada finds Albertans buying vehicles spent more than $37,000 on average in February.
That compares with just over $34,000 nationally.
ATB Economist Todd Hirsch tells 660News there’s a few reasons for that.
“Truck sales per capita are higher in Alberta than they are anywhere else in the country and trucks generally cost more than cars do,” explains Hirsch. “Also, the better economy, the fact that more Albertans are working than the national average.”
Hirsch points out that there’s still good deals out there, as vehicle prices haven’t kept up with inflation rates in recent years.
