Survey highlights party platforms for small businesses

Which federal party would give the most perks to small businesses?
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business has spoken to each of the five parties to find out.
Senior Vice-President Dan Kelly tells 660News each party would take some positive steps for small businesses, like giving them credit for hiring youth.
“That is good news, that the parties are conscious about the huge roll that small businesses play with respect to job creation,” he says. “It’s great news coming out of a recession and all five parties have got some form of tax credit programs for small business in their platforms.”
Kelly says the parties also came across some worrisome ideas.
“The NDP’s plans specifically is to double the Canada pension plan benefits, which would mean about a 60 per cent increase in CPP [Canada Pension Plan] taxes in Canada,” he says. “That’s a huge, huge increase, but other parties are also talking about the same thing. The Green Party, the Liberals and the Bloc have all talked about that, and even the Tories, I have to say, are not entirely clear as to what direction they would take.”
