With less than 24 hours to go before Prince William and Kate Middleton walk down the aisle, the last-minute preparations and rehearsals are finally wrapping up.
Flowers have been delivered to Westminster Abbey, the barricades have been put up, security has been tightened and the royal wedding souvenirs are selling like hot cakes.
Emma Parry lives in Enderby, UK and tells 660News the entire country has been preparing for this moment.
“[It’s] everywhere you turn, in every street corner, every shop, every pub, every newspaper, every newspaper flyer that comes through the supermarket, absolutely anything to do with this royal wedding,” she says.
Nelli Ferenczi lives in Cambridge, some two hours away from London, and says celebrations are going strong there as well.
“It’s not just in London,” Ferenczi tells 660News. “A lot of councils in the different towns are actually arranging street parties, so you’ll have a lot of people outside, shutting down the roads, setting up stalls and everyone just celebrating the wedding.”
She says many people have unfurled banners, flags and have baked royal wedding-themed goodies.
Parry says while she won’t be making it to London for the event, callers should beware! “We’ll be stuck and glued to the gogglebox, so please don’t ring, because you’ll be interrupting our viewing,” she says.
The official 28-page wedding programme has just been made available for the public to download for free. To view it online, click here. (http://bit.ly/mIi5pc)
The programme features the full order of service, a message of thanks from William and Kate, an updated coat of arms, along with a stunning new black and white engagement photo of the couple taken by photographer Mario Testino, whose work has been featured in magazines like Vogue and Vanity Fair.
The order of service has full details about the processions, prayers, readings and music, which includes the traditional English folk song Greensleeves.
Kate Middleton requested some modern music be played at the ceremony as well, with a short ceremonial tune titled, “Valiant and Brave,” after the motto of William’s RAF Search and Rescue No. 22 Squadron.
It has also been confirmed that the bride-to-be will promise to love and honour her new husband, but will scrap the outdated “obey” from her vows.
On the wedding day, 150,000 copies of the programme will be sold, with profits benefiting the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry.
