Art teacher charged with sexually assaulting student

Police have charged a 64-year-old Okotoks art teacher with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl he used to teach.

Terrence Lee Andrews is charged with sexual interference with a child under 16 after his former student reported she was sexually assaulted for about seven months.

Duty Inspector Rob Williams tells 660News the two met in May 2009, at a southwest Calgary art studio where the girl took lessons and shopped for art supplies.

Williams says the assaults allegedly happened at the studio, as well as at his Okotoks home.

The teen eventually stopped going to the studio and the two are no longer in contact.
