Conservatives get a third straight mandate

The Conservatives have been re-elected to a third consecutive mandate, forming at least a minority government.
Stephen Harper now joins Sir John A. Macdonald and John Diefenbaker as the only Conservatives ever to win three consecutive terms in office.
Meanwhile, the Canadian Press reports that the New Democrats have gained enough ground to become the official opposition for the first time.
The results are coming in as vote counts across in Ontario, Quebec and Eastern Canada.
