Despite the rain, this year’s SportChek Mother’s Day Run and Walk is being hailed as a huge success.
More than 14,500 people turned out to lace up their racing shoes in the annual event.
Organizers say that’s already 600 more than last year and the final tally might actually come in higher, since it takes time to count those who didn’t officially register beforehand.
Final numbers on cash raised aren’t available yet, but it’s hoped proceeds from this year’s run will top $600,000.
That money will go to the neonatal intensive care units at the Foothills, Rockyview and Peter Lougheed hospitals to buy equipment and support.
