Calgary not likely to experience any flooding

Calgary will most likely avoid flooding this year, as snow from the mountains begins to melt.
Carrie Sancartier, with Alberta Environment tells 660News they don’t expect much of the mountain run off to affect our city.
“Right now things are melting quite slowly, which is ideal,” she says. “We’re expecting it to continue to melt slowly over the next few days. Our big concern would be if it was to rain on top of that snow, but the short-term forecast isn’t saying that at this time.”
She says even though a lot of snow fell this winter, snow pack doesn’t generally cause flooding.
While Calgary may be spared, other areas, like Brandon, Manitoba and Quebec’s Richelieu Valley have called in the military to help deal with widespread flooding.
