City looking for public input on budget process

“Give us your say and help us to guide the future direction of the city in regards to where we spend your tax dollars.”
That’s what veteran alderman Andre Chabot tells 660News about the first of five public input sessions, Tuesday night, as the City seeks input from ratepayers on how elected officials handle the City of Calgary budget.
Chabot says city council members are always open to new ideas on how to improve efficiencies and save money.
“Give us your ideas and let us run with them as best we can,” he adds.
“If people can come up with some different ideas, some different services that we could be providing them, hey you know what? Great, I welcome it,” says the Ward 10 alderman. “Please come out.”
Chabot believes the forums will also help Calgarians better understand how their tax dollars are utilized, adding the city has nothing to do with health care or education.
Tuesday’s budget forum is being held at the Commonwealth Hall and Conference Centre on 39th Street and 52nd Avenue North starting at 6:30pm.
Other forums are being held Wednesday at 7pm at the Fort Calgary Officer’s Mess at 750 9th Avenue Southeast; Thursday starting at 6:30pm at the McKenzie Meadows Golf Course on McKenzie Meadows Drive Southeast; Saturday at 9am at Heritage Park Gasoline Alley at 1900 Heritage Drive Southwest; and next Monday at 7pm at the Calgary Winter Club at 14th Street Northwest.
