Gas station numbers going down

The number of gas stations in this country has been steadily dwindling.
Over the past 20 years, Canada has gone from a peak of more than 20,000 gas stations to only about 12,500 now.
Most retail gas outlets are not controlled by the big oil companies.
The Calgary Sun reports they only account for 16 per cent of total stations.
The most pumps per capita are found in the least populated provinces and territories, while the chances of waiting in line to fill up are the highest in Ontario, Quebec, B.C. and Alberta.
