CBE owed almost $2-million in fees

The Calgary Board of Education has yet to collect $1.9-million it is currently owed, despite a cash crunch.
Hundreds of parents hoping to force a court case owe the missing money.
The Parents for Public Education say annual levies of up to $132 for everything from paper to rulers aren’t lawful, because public education should be free.
The Calgary Herald reports as many as 5.5 per cent of parents didn’t pay their fees last year.
The CBE says they aren’t suing, because the legal costs to get the money would total more than the amount left owing.
