Charities overloaded with junk

Alberta charities are taking a huge hit thanks to junk being dumped on their doorstep.
Many people may mean well with some of the things that are left but even then, if the particular charity doesn’t take those items they’re being forced to pay the cost of removing them.
Scott Gilmore with the Salvation Army tells the Calgary Sun, they’ve had to deal with everything from used toilets and paint cans to couches with the springs sticking out and actual garbage.
One charity, Goodwill Industries, says it spends $500,000 a year province-wide just getting rid of the junk.
The cost of taking it to the dump or recycling it themselves means their programs are losing out.
Donors are asked to be considerate when dropping items off and to pay attention to what each charity accepts.
