Fire destroys homes in Citadel

Strong wind is blamed for fanning the fire that destroyed three homes and damaged two others in Citadel.
Many other houses in the area were evacuated as crowds of people watched firefighters battle the three-alarm blaze on Citadel Acres Close N.W., Sunday afternoon.
The Calgary Fire Department’s Brian McAsey says they could not prevent the flames from spreading.
He says by the time crews arrived, the fire was very advanced because of the wind.
Although the fire is now under control, crews will remain on scene to tear down the three destroyed homes and ensure the fire does not rekindle.
A cause should be known within the next few days.
It’s not believed there were any injuries.
