Calgary fire ban issued

Calgary is following the province’s lead.

Due to extremely dry conditions, a fire ban has been issued for the city after Premier Ed Stelmach issued a province wide ban on Tuesday afternoon.

The Calgary ban includes burning barrels and fire pits along with charcoal barbecues.

Here is a complete list of what the fire ban includes:

Incinerators (farm and acreage users)
Regulated burning barrels or fire pits
solid fuel barbecues (charcoal briquettes)
Chimeneas
Fireworks or pyrotechnics
Fire contained within approved facilities and appliances in designated camping and recreation areas
Burning for thawing

Exemptions:
Internal household fire places
Camp stoves (Coleman stoves)
Liquid fuel barbecues and fire pits (propane and natural gas)

The fire ban will remain in place until the fire chief feels it’s safe to lift.
