Campers upset over Alberta fireban

Alberta Sustainable Resources says they’ve been indundated with complaints from area campers, who feel the ban shouldn’t apply to the southern rockies.

They’re asking Calgarians for their patience as they try and get 56 wildfires across the province under control. Despite the rain this week, a fire-ban still remains in place across the province.

Alberta Sustainable Resources spokesperson Kathy Kiel says the ground may be wet but there was still two wildfires in the region Wednesday.

Kiel says we can’t risk any new incidents, with the fires burning near Slave Lake and our resources spread thin. In addition, fine fuels like grass, leaves, and twigs can still start a blaze.
