Prime Minister visits Slave Lake

Prime Minister Stephen Harper says he was inspired by the courage and resilience of Albertans as he toured the burned-out town of Slave Lake Friday.
He had a look at the destruction from the air and on the ground.
“We just want to say that everyone here is in the thoughts and prayers of people across the country. I know people have come in from around the country to help out as well,” said Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
He adds his government will continue to work closely with all levels of government to help residents rebuild their lives. However, he didn’t say how much, if any aid money the federal government will be contributing.
Harper praised the diligence of crews working around the clock to get the town back up and running.
The province has announced adults forced from their homes will be eligible for up to $12,050 in immediate aid.
