Premier Stelmach tours High River

The worst is over, with flooding concerns in High River as long as no more rain comes, that from Premier Ed Stelmach who toured the town Friday evening.

After touring the streets of High River, Premier Ed Stelmach said the community was clearly prepared for this deluge of rain and it could have been a lot worse.

He says the property damage was minimal and there is no need for special relief funding.

“These are conditions set up in legislation and regulation and I know in talking to the county, the county has lost three county bridges.  There are various programs in place.  We’ll have to assess and will assess all the damage.”

Stelmach says its been a hectic year for disasters in this province but hopes a rosier weather forecast helps ease things this summer.
