More than 400 guests at the Sandman Hotel in downtown Calgary were forced out of their beds late Thursday night.
The wet weather is getting the blame for the building’s evacuation, which fire crews carried out because of safety concerns.
A deluge of water shorted out the main power feed around 11:00 p.m.
Most guests had to leave personal belongings behind before being sent to nearby hotels and Calgary Transit buses.
Guests will be let back in once power is fully restored.
The hotel is currently running on generators and remains closed.
