Scotiabank Calgary Marathon huge success

Mother nature was kind to runners taking part in the 47th edition of the Scotiabank Calgary Marathon.
Nearly 10,000 participants took part in the full marathon, half, 10-k and 5-k run.
Kenyan born Willy Kimosop, winner of the half marathon says even though the event is difficult he had a great time.
“I like running. Running is kind of like life to me. So, it’s special.”
There was some friendly competition going on as well.
Tibor Vegh, runner up in the 10k, who lives near Phoenix, Arizona, thought he won the race.
“I went up the hill, the very last hill, I was running as fast as I could, I thought I had gapped him enough so that he couldn’t catch me. But he caught me with like 150 metres to go.”
Kip Kangogo winner of 10k from Lethbridge says he couldn’t ask for better weather.
“It was raining 2 days ago and I was like who is going to run in this? But, the weather was really good.”
So far, well over $400,000 has been raised for 30 charities in the Scotiabank group charity.
More than 500 kids also took part in conjunction with the Scotiabank Marathon Kids Program, helping to promote a healthy and active lifestyle at a young age.
