VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final gets underway Wednesday night in Vancouver as the Canucks take on the Bruins. Vancouver is looking to get some injured players back in the line-up.
Defenceman Christian Ehrhoff injured his shoulder in Game 3 against the San Jose Sharks and sat out Games 4 and 5 of the Western Conference Finals. But he’ll be ready to play this round.
“I’ve been off the ice for a little bit and it was definitely fun to get back out there and to play in a game-like situation,” says Ehrhoff.
Manny Malhotra was skating on the fourth line with Jeff Tambellini and Cody Hodgson at practice yesterday and was killing penalties with Maxime Lapierre in the second half of the workout.
Coach Alain Vigneault says he’ll have a better idea after today’s practice whether Malhotra will dress for Game 1.
Malhotra suffered a serious eye injury when hit by a deflected puck on March 16th in a game against the Colorado Avalanche.
Ryan Kesler took three days off after appearing to injure his left leg in Game 5 against the Sharks. Kesler says he’s feeling good now and is “ready to go.”
