Residents in a southwest apartment building are cleaning up their homes after sewage flooded into their basements.
A main backed up shortly before 11 a.m. Friday near Lakeview Green on 66th Avenue.
Brian McAsey with the Fire Department tells 660News there was up to three or four feet of raw sewage running through one of the apartments and they brought in pumps to clean it up.
“We had people there to pump out the sewage and once it was unblocked, in fact, what happened was is that it actually was able to flow back and recede,” he says. “So it was a cleanup effort after that.”
Several residents were evacuated from their homes for a few hours, but have all been allowed to return home.
It’s not clear how much damage was caused.
