Emergency services stage mock disaster

It’s a day of training for many of those involved in Calgary’s emergency services.
The Emergency Management Agency is staging a mock hydrogen sulphide release near the southeast city limits.
Brian McAsey with the fire department tells 660News such exercises help improve the coordination and communication of emergency response crews.
“What’s essential is they actually go through these things and we practice and we have to put the rubber to the road and actually have to prove we can do it when the time comes,” says McAsey.
The mock disaster will wrap up before 1:00 p.m. After that, officials will see what worked and what needs improvement.
