Postal workers strike in Calgary and Edmonton

Postal workers in Calgary and Edmonton hit the picket lines Tuesday evening.
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers made the announcement Tuesday afternoon, after around 1,000 workers were on strike in Moncton, N.B., and Victoria, B.C.
Wednesday will be the sixth day of rotating strikes, the earlier ones were held in Winnipeg, Montreal and Hamilton.
A union spokesperson says they are considering an escalation of their current round of rotating strikes, but they are not thinking about holding a nationwide walkout.
John Bail says service in Calgary and Edmonton is suffering from a shortage of workers because it is a hot job market.
He says the union thinks Canada Post’s push to create more part-time positions makes the situation worse because workers would prefer to have full-time jobs.
