Active Alberta gets underway

The province wants everyone to get up and get moving.

Active Alberta is a ten-year blueprint to improve the health and quality of life of people in our province.

Ten Alberta government ministries had a hand in drafting the policy, after talks with nearly 130 stakeholder groups.

Minister of Tourism, Parks and Recreation Cindy Ady tells 660News, all levels of government and community groups must be involved for the plan to work.

The minister adds that it is a personal responsibility to be fit, but in all planning that is issued, the activity level of Albertans should be taken into consideration.

The early stages of the plan will see new and existing programs developed to provide more opportunities for Albertans to get active.
