About 3,800 Air Canada customer service representatives are now on strike and the airline says while it will be able to keep its full flight, schedule passengers should be prepared for line-ups.
Contract talks went down to the wire Monday night, but the two sides could not find common ground on the key issues of wages and pensions.
One Air Canada passenger at YYC told 660News Tuesday morning she received an email from the airline Monday night advising her of the situation, but she decided not to change her flight. She said she checked her luggage and that service provided by the replacement workers was fast and very friendly.
Other travelers 660News spoke with reported much longer lines earlier in the morning, but say the situation improved after replacement workers managed to adjust to the pace.
There was a picket line outside the terminal doors in front of the Air Canada counters Tuesday morning, but there were no disruptions because of it.
