A new study shows long-term consumption of soft drinks, diet or full strength, can lead to even more problems than previously thought.
The report conducted by “Nurses’ Health Study” shows women who drank just one soft drink a day over an eight year period have a greater chance of developing high blood sugar levels, are at a higher risk to suffer a heart attack and could put on as much as 10 pounds over a four year period.
Diet drinks are not much better. They too have several negative side effects including bone loss, tooth enamel damage, kidney damage and more.
A healthy alternative to “pop” is of course water or juice but be careful, many fruit beverages masquerade as being healthy but unless it’s 100 per cent pure fruit juice it likely also contains large amounts of sugars.
